Day 36 - An occasional handful of nuts..

Tumblr_lqq4r7bgxv1qmohofo1_500_large

Soooooo Easter is over, phew! Did you eat much chocolate? Still got lots hanging around the house? I didn't get much (sad face) so no chocolate to give away, sorry! I only had a few small eggs which is much much less than most years. Are there any more 'festivals' of food coming up? I need advance warning. We've had Christmas followed by Valentine chocolate then pancakes and then back to chocolate shaped as eggs or bunnies. Any other food festivals coming before the Summer?!

I've been reading about the Paleo diet a bit more in detail. It's really very simple. Lean meat and fish with fruit and vegetables with the occasional handful of nuts (oooo..Matron). Of course you can have the odd treat too and the book I'm reading even mentions an 'open meal'. I'm hoping that by 'meal' it means 'open whole day'.... I'll let you know when I get to that bit.

Another workout with Gareth today and I'm struggling to get up from the sofa tonight. It's a real problem people as the butler, Husband has gone away for a few days (party at mine everyone) so I actually have to do everything myself at the moment. Walk dog twice a day, make my breakfast, lunch and dinner, wash it all up again, put washes on, take washes out. It's exhausting. How does he do it all?

Gareth made me roll around in the mud today. He calls them exercises.. I was covered by the end of the session. Muddy elbows, palms, tshirt and tracksuit bottoms.  I fitted in very well at Waitrose afterwards doing the weekly shop. Ahem.

So at the moment with husband AWOL, I can't use any excuses for me to stay plonked on the sofa. Unless I can teach the dog to... hmmm... might have a new project for the next few days.

Gareth will be posting about my new measurements soon from last week's weigh-in. I'm quite pleased with them despite ONLY losing 12lbs!

I've beat it again..

I've been swimming everyday these past ten days while on annual leave (apart from the days I see Gareth. And apart from Easter Sunday. The lifeguards chose to close the pool to eat chocolate in peace).  Yesterday, I swam my mile in 49 minutes and 1 second, down from 1 hour! How cool is that?!!

I shocked myself. But not as shocked as other swimmers must have been when they shared the same pool as me for those 60 minutes. You see, it would seem that I need a new swimsuit. My current one may have been stretched in a certain 'up top' area in the past and now that the certain area has shrunk over the last five weeks, the current swimsuit may have a tendency to drop down too far while swimming, exposing certain assets that shouldn't really be exposed in a public place. (Unless you're protesting about womens right to wear underwear in public places or something like that).  And the owner of the stretched swimsuit may not have noticed that she was flashing the entire pool for a number of laps. (Cringe).

Have you ever noticed how it's always men that wear goggles? And spend most of their time underwater?

Ah carumba. I'll just add it to the long list of embarrassing moments that keep Claire awake at night.

Gareth completed his first Triathlon last Friday.  400m swim, 22km cycle, 6km run....with no breaks! You're not allowed to stop and have a bite to eat! I know! Crazy.

We left at 7am and Gareth was raring to go when we got to Abingdon.

Shortly after this photo, Gareth informed me that he had registered me too. Hardy Ha Ha. You're hilarous. (Although, I was scared for about 20 seconds while I tried to figure out if he would really do that to me).

After registration, a briefing and a mad dash to attach a camera to his head (don't ask), Wave 5 set off. Here's Gareth swimming with a camera on his head.

Once the 16 lengths were done and dusted, the competitors had to run out of the swimming pool centre, into the freezing morning air (remember it was cold on Friday morning, minus 4 in Hampshire). Run past all the spectators bare foot in soaking wet trunks, through bike racks from previous waves and to their bike. Can you spot Gareth running to his bike?

If you can't spot him, here's a close up!

Ha ha ha! Got my own back after all the rolling around in the mud!

After a towel down and quick change of wardrobe, the leisurely bike ride of 22kms.....
Some competitors didn't bother with a t-shirt or socks or trainers!

See you in an hour.. Now, where was that coffee and doughnut stand?

Gareth arrives back from the bike ride. Feeling refreshed and ready for the run!

And finally the end of the 6km run. He made it!

Well done Gareth! Hopefully not your first and last triathlon!

P.S. For you Abi - Gareth looking exhausted..

You're welcome!
